The Chopping Chambers

Use your trusty axe to slice your way through 3 unique areas! Will you survive The Chambers?

Overview

The Chopping Chambers is a first-person action adventure game where you make your way through The Chambers using your trusty axe. The goal was for the player to use the axe in many different ways to make their way through the levels. There are three upgrades the player gets for the axe: a charge attack, a throw, and a grapple. Each of these changes the way the player traverses the levels and fights enemies. This game was made in 5 days in Unreal engine for the Tigerdev 2020 Spring Break Jam.

CounterTOP

A fast paced, local co-op arena fighter!

Overview

CounterTOP is a 1v1 arena fighter where you play as possessed household appliances. I wanted the game to be as fast-paced and punchy as a fighter could possibly be. I made it over the course of the summer to learn Godot.

LEIT HEIST

Get all the treasure. Avoid light to the beat!

Overview

LEIT HEIST is a action rhythm-based game. You play as The Boy — the world’s greatest thief. The goal of the game is simple – avoid the light from the circling helicopter to avoid getting caught! The game was made over the course of 100 hours for the TigerDev Fall 2019 Kickoff Jam along with Charles Painter as a level designer and programmer and Cooper Garvin as the artist. Working on LEIT HEIST has been my favorite experience with making games thus far.

CONSUMO

Ever wonder what it’s like to be the chef who cooks for the classic band of adventurers?

Overview

CONSUMO takes place in a classic fantasy style world. But instead of the player being your classic adventurer, they are instead the chef who feeds the adventurers in their quest for glory. Designing a game with such a unique concept has certainly been a challenge. I’ve worked on CONSUMO for the past year with a group of undergrads in TigerDev. Most members of the team had little experience with game dev, so it’s been a crazy and hectic learning experience.

My Role

  • Node based world generation — The biggest undertaking for Daynight was the world generation. We decided on a system with predesigned nodes that would slot themselves together based on their neighbors. It was particularly difficult because Daynight is a sidescroller, meaning we always want the player to have a way to access each of the surrounding nodes.

Daynight

A cycle based rogue-like with spell based combat!

Overview

Daynight is a game about adventure. I wanted the player to feel like they were going on a new adventure with each playthrough. To accomplish this, Daynight is a cycle based game. It takes place on a day-night cycle. With each passing day, a new season will change the game’s look and feel. With each passing day, the player can get new upgrades for their character, Lila.

I was the project leader for Daynight in TigerDev, Auburn’s game dev club. I worked together with two other active members by holding weekly meetings and coordinating tasks.

The Adventures of Cat Bat

Play as cat bat in a rogue-like adventure!

Tools Used

  • GameMaker Studio 2
  • Adobe Photoshop

Overview

The Adventures of Cat Bat was made over the course of 72 hours for Ludum Dare 44 with the theme “Your Life is Currency”. The player takes the role of the Cat Bat, a creature that is both a cat and a bat. The game is a short, rogue-like adventure with minimalist graphics and 8-bit sound. I went with a vampire theme, as a big goal of the game was to gather life points and use them to your advantage. This was my first game jam, and I learned a ton from the experience.

GEMINI

A rhythm-based platformer. Move with the switching blocks!

Overview

In GEMINI, the main mechanic is the red and blue switch blocks. The levels are designed around timing your jumps with the beat of the blocks in order to progress. The game was made in about 4 days for the TigerDev Fall Break 2019 Jam along with Cooper Garvin and Jooan Jin as artists.
